Established in 1994, Brian Marki Fine Art is a European- inspired gallery exhibiting local, national and international artists. We specialize in contemporary fine art in all mediums, featuring painting, sculpture, photography, glass and fine art prints. Located in the historic Irvington District, we pride ourselves on being a neighborhood gallery, welcoming the casual viewer as well as the collector.
Our Philosophy
In choosing art for the gallery, we look for a quality that is rooted in history but with an eye toward the future – work that lives well in the continuum of art making. We exhibit art that is inviting and meant to be lived with.
The Man Behind the Gallery
Brian began his art career in his teens as an artist's apprentice, learning not only how to make art, but also the craft of designing and building frames from the artist's perspective. He continued his studies in art at California College of Arts and Crafts (CCAC) where he studied printmaking, painting, wood, design and gallery management. He never stopped framing work for artists, and opened his first frame shop in Oakland, California after graduation from CCAC in 1984. The shop still exists today and is run by the partner who helped establish it. Brian moved to Portland in 1992 and shares his love of "the most livable city in the U.S." freely and unabashedly. His vision for the future of the gallery includes many collaborative efforts with visual artists, musicians and writers.
