Jason Bradbury is a painter and he is also a tattoo artist who has a large following of clients as well as fans. Living and working in Portland Oregon, his paintings are another world far removed from the Portland we all hold in our minds. His biomorphic subjects are abstracted to the point of becoming something beyond life and into something mechanical. Jason is blurring the lines, the thought, the image and the concept of making. The paintings are his other world from his tattoo life. It is a powerful world, born in scratchboard works and drawings then worked small and intimate. He then brings the idea into the oversize bigger than life works that resonate over the long distance you see in the gallery.

This small to large size image is very much a balancing of his professional tattoo work limited by the size of the body part he is working on and his artistic vision of a larger scale work. His tattoo work can be scaled very large without sacrificing any power of the image. I invite you to come to the gallery to see Jason Bradburys newest work on canvas. Jason is truly a painter. You can see his painterly way in his tattoo work as well as in his carefully layered paintings in the gallery. This layered development is what makes his work so powerful on an emotional level. Seeing the image on the web does not compare with seeing Jason's work in person. His surface is as much of the story as the subject is, telling the viewer how the work came to be.
